The Russian wrestler Besik Kudukhov died in a car accident in 2013 in southern Russia. Ahead of Rio Olympics, the International Olympic Committee had re-tested his sample which was collected in 2012. The four-time world champion and two-time Olympic medallist Besik Kudukhov was found positive for dope test conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency. As a result, Yogeshwar Dutt’s bronze medal in men’s 60-kg freestyle category would have been upgraded to silver.

Yogeshwar Dutt expressed that he is not keen to collect the upgraded silver medal from 2012 London Olympics in Twitter.

Yogeshwar Dutt will be the second wrestler after Sushil Kumar to win silver at an Olympics. Sushil Kumar, too, won the honour at the London Games but in the 66kg freestyle. Yogeshwar Dutt would be handed a silver medal after the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) gets the confirmation in writing from the World body. He also dedicated his silver medal to the people of India.
