Xiaomi Mi 5, the new smartphone from the Chinese tech-start-up will launch in India on March 31. The company has sent out press invites for the event, which will take place in New Delhi. The Mi 5 was unveiled in China at 1999 Yuan or approximately Rs 21,000 and could be priced at under Rs 25,000 in India. But we’ll have to wait and see how Xiaomi prices the new Mi 5 in India. The Mi5 and Mi5 Pro were announced back in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and the former eventually went on sale earlier this month in China. The Mi5 Pro is still elusive in the Chinese market so we don’t expect the higher end Mi5 Pro to be made available in India anytime soon.
Xiaomi Mi 5 comes in three variants – 3GB+32GB, 3GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB storage options. The 4GB version with 128GB RAM is called as the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro. The Mi5 is powered by the powerful Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset and has a 16MP camera at the back with DTI technology, 4-Axis OIS and PDAF along with dual LED flash. On front, there’s a 4MP Ultrapixel camera. The display is of 5.15-inches with 1080p resolution and the battery is of 3000mAh capacity with Quick Charge 3.0. It was announced to come in Black, White, Gold and Rose colors, but don’t be surprised if you get to see just one or two of them initially over here.

Mi5 comes with a 3D glass cover and 3GB RAM with 64GB storage. Everything else is the same in both devices. The Xiaomi Mi5 borrows a lot of elements from its Mi Note series phones. It sports a 5.15-inch full HD display and both phones house Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset which has a customised quad core Kryo processors clocked at 2.2GHz along with Adreno 530 GPU.
