The Driver of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Colonel Nizamuddin passed away at the age of 117 at his native placeDhakwa village in Azamgarh. Nizamuddin passed away on Last Monday, he was the close associate of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Nizamuddin was a member of Indian Army between the year 1943 to 1945. He was born in 1900, and last year he was declared as the oldest man in the world. Nizamuddin has four sons, three daughters, and his widow wife, Ajbul Nisha. When Nizamuddin had his last hours his youngest son Sheikh Akram was by his side.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sympathy over the death of Nizamuddin. PM Modi Tweeted, “We will always remember the idealism, courage, and patriotism of Colonel Nizamuddin, which added strength to our freedom struggle.”
The INA veteran left with his unfulfilled wish to see his Master and Hero. Nizamuddin never accepted that Netaji died in Taihoku air crash in 1945. He says, he had dropped Netaji on the banks of Sitangpur river near Burma-Thailand border.
The son of Nizamuddin, Akram Sheikh, told to timesofIndia, “Abba breathed his last around 4 am when we went to ask for morning tea. He was doing well, though his memory started fading.” When his father woke up, he started feeling restless and soon he took his last breath.
The funeral started around 2 PM, and his last rites were performed in the village graveyard. All of his good well-wishers and neighbors gathered at his house to pay tributes. Suhas LY, the district magistrate of Azamgarh and other officers, went Dhakwa.
The DM said,”Just three month back we had prepared a memoir in his honor documenting all his accounts, and war memories of the freedom struggle to release in his lifetime. But, after his demise the memoir will be released shortly in the presence of his kin,” he added that the district lost a real hero.
