The Caribbean Premier League match witnessed a horror head-clash during a match in Barbados on 13 July. The shocking incident happened when Kieran Powell and JJ Smuts head clash while running towards each other for taking a catch off AB de Villiers at the boundary ropes during the match between St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and Barbados Tridents.
AB de Villiers hit the ball for six run and was batting at 67 when he tried to smash Alzarri Joseph’s ball towards the long on boundary. Kieran Powell ran straight from his position at long on the boundary and JJ Smuts ran from the opposite direction and both players eyes fixed on the ball and the absence of a decisive call from either player, they bang into each other.
Kieran Powell had to be admitted to a hospital after an ambulance was brought on to the field. He is currently recovering.
