Waris Ahluwalia, Grand Budapest Hotel Actor was en route to New York fashion week when Aeromexico staff refused to let him board the plane because of his Turban. Waris Ahluwalia was travelling from Mexico City to New York for the New York fashion week.
Waris Ahluwalia posted a photograph with his flight ticket on Instagram, saying he was not allowed to board Aeromexico flight to New York for refusing to remove his turban.
Ahluwalia described the situation in a series of Instagram posts, where he first showed how he was stopped from boarding the flight, and then mentioned that he was stuck in Mexico city and informed NYC fashion week that he will be late saying: “don’t start the show without me”.
Meanwhile the airline said in a statement that Waris Ahluwalia was “asked to submit to a screening and inspection before boarding, in strict compliance with TSA protocol. We have offered the passenger (two) alternatives to reach his destination as soon as possible, we sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by this incident.”

“This is a chance for growth,” Waris Ahluwalia said while waiting for another flight back to New York. “The only thing that I have right now is maybe the ability to reach some people and make a change.”
