Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim‘s youngest brother Humayun Kaskar died in Karachi on Thursday. Humayun, was reportedly suffering from cancer for the past seven years. He was undergoing chemotherapy.

Humayun lived with his wife and children in Islamabad but was reportedly being treated in Karachi hospital. Humayun, unlike his brothers did not have any criminal records against him. He was running a garment shop in Dubai.


Humayun and Mustaqium were the only siblings in the family without any offence registered against them in India. Sources said that Dawood left enough for them to run lawful businesses in Dubai and Karachi. Both owned malls and showrooms there. In 1982 Dawood’s elder brother Shabbir Kaskar, who headed the organised crime syndicate, was shot dead at Mahim by Pathan brothers of the Karim Lala gang.

A senior police official said, “Citing Iqbal Kaskar’s case, they prevented the brothers from returning. Iqbal, who was deported to India in 2003, had to face a legal battle for six years to get himself cleared.” a close family member said, “He used to smoke,  take drugs such as opium and cocaine, and drink heavily.”

Mumbai crime branch sources said that after Humayun was detected with lung cancer in 2007, he had decided to return to India along with his elder brother Mustaqium for treatment. But Dawood and other family members advised them against it, and they preferred treatment from doctors in Karachi.

Dawood has been booked in the 1993 serial bomb blast case. Dawood and his confidante Chhota Shakeel were actively involved in silver smuggling and also entered into business of drugs. The family members of Dawood are still active in extorting money from businessman and are also into real-estate business.
