If You want to help (“adopt”) a village this is how you can adopt a drought hit village like Bollywood actor Nana Patekar, who adopted 2 severely drought hit villages, Dhondalgaon and Gogalgaon in Vaijapur taluka of Aurangabad district.Nana Patekar after extending economic aid to the farm widows of Marathwada region determined to undertake drought-hit villages within the region for about a year with an intention to make them tanker-free and self-independent. In the same manner Akshay Kumar has donated Rs. 50 lakh for Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyaan. Aamir Khan has adopted two villages with NGO PAANI too. Riteish Deshmukh has donated Rs.25 lakh to Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyaan as his contribution towards drought relief.

One can adopt village under Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan. This programme is implemented as a campaign through

  • Government departments
  • Voluntary organizations NGOs etc.
  • Public participation and Funds available with Private businessmen (CSR),

Overview: Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan is a flagship program of Government of Maharashtra to provide long term and sustainable solutions to the water scarcity and unreliability problem faced by rural communities. The program develops a planning-based integrated framework to address both drinking water and irrigation water demands of communities.

The program is implemented at the taluka level and is coordinated at the district level by the District Collector, who is also the nodal officer. The over-all implementation is overseen by the Superintending Agricultural Officer (SAO) and the taluka level staff under him/her and alsoother departments such as GSDA (Groundwater Surveys and Development Agency) and RWS (Rural Water Supply)

By now, we all know about the pain and the helplessness of the farmers in Maharashtra because of the drought like situation, which is driving them to end their lives, as they are unable to earn their livelihood.

Or what you can simply do is  get someone who can deliver as many water tankers to the village as required and then distribute the water to the villagers according to their need. Get another person who can do the same thing with cooked food.

even after the situation is bit normal now Efforts should be made to educate people in conserving water, benefits of plantation and other  permanent measures.
