A week after the makers of ‘Udta Punjab’ filed a complaint with the Mumbai cyber cell department concerning the leak of their film online, The owner of torrent site allzmovies.in was arrested by the cyber cell of Mumbai Police on Wednesday in connection with Bollywood movie Udta Punjab leaking online.
Mumbai police have arrested the man who leaked Udta Punjab online.
The Mumbai police told ANI, “The complainant was informed that the said movie was leaked on internet on two separate links of website of Torrent.com. On downloading the movie it was revealed that the first sensor copy was stolen and uploaded on Torrent.com by user robby007.”
Immediately after the leaked print surfaced online, the legal department of Phantom Films Pvt Ltd filed a complaint with Mumbai cyber cell. A cause under relevant sections of the IPC and IT act was registered and investigations began. A week into the investigation, cops arrested Dipak Kumar from Delhi in connection with the leak. Preliminary information suggests that the accused earns his living by uploading pirated copy of films on his website.
The Mumbai police found that the original link of the leaked movie was uploaded by a website allzmovies.in several allegations were made against the Censor Board of Film Certification, who had run into trouble with the producers, as the leaked version of the film had CBFC’s time stamp, and also had the one scene that the Bombay High Court had asked to be deleted from the movie.
The makers of Udta Punjab struggled to remove copies of the movie that were available for download on torrent sites, but managed to remove most of them.
