Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the first time. Sunrisers Hyderabad beat three-time finalists Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs in an exciting contest at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Sunday night. Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers put up an incredible performance to ruin Virat Kohli’s fairytale season beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 runs in a high-octane summit clash walking away with their maiden Indian Premier League trophy.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Winning the toss and putting up a challenging target of 209 for Royals Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers captain David Warner led from the front and played a captain’s innings by scoring 69 off deliveries. Thanks to Yuvraj Singh’s 38 off 23 and Ben Cutting’s 39* off 15 deliveries Sunrisers managed to set a daunting total for the hosts RCB.  Sunrisers bowlers showed their mettle by halting RCB’s star-studded batting line up at 200 for 7 wickets in 20 overs, though they were plundered by RCB openers Chris Gayle and skipper Virat Kohli, who posted 114 in first 10 overs.

RCB Playing a third final, in its own backyard, against an opposition that already finds itself in uncharted territory, must feel like an opportunity begging to be grabbed. But the flip side of having played in two finals before is that it has lost two finals before. That brings mental baggage that Bangalore could well do without. For years it has been fancied to win the IPL, only to stumble and fall at some point. It has delivered many memorable wins, it has lit up the tournament with bursts of individual brilliance, but, in the final analysis, it has flattered to deceive.
