In a shocking incident, a group of boys from a Ganesh Mandal attempted to drown a policeman during the Ganesh festival immersion ceremony in Kalyan, Mumbai. The incident happened on Tuesday when the policeman was trying to control the crowd during the Ganesh idol immersion and the video has gone viral on social media platforms. The four youths had earlier objected to being disciplined by the policeman.

According to a Indian Express report, the youths belonged to Jari Mari Mandal from Kalyan. Nitin Dagale was controlling the crowd assembled for the immersion and was disciplining the members of various Mandals. The members of the Ganesh Utsav mandal were also asked to follow queue system. However, some youths of the mandal objected to being disciplined and picked up a quarrel with Nitin Dagale.

Later, the youths allegedly pushed him into the lake. Nitin Dagale managed to save himself by swimming out of the lake. Police said one of mandal member seeing policemen immersing ganesh idol entered inside pond and tried to kill the policeman by drowning him in the pond.

A complaint has been filed against four youths at Kolsewadi Police Station but no one has been arrested yet.
