Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai is all set to make a comeback but not on television. On Tuesday June 28, at Satish Shah’s belated 65th birthday bash, the idea of bringing back the iconic TV show came up and the general consensus was that it should return as a web series.
The producer of Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, JD Majethia has finally revealed the show is coming back as a web series and not on television.
Producer JD Majethia told Mumbai Mirror, “We have received so much support from fans online some of whom have even volunteered to finance the show if it returns. During the discussion we agreed that none of us wanted a never-ending TV series but a shorter term online was a good idea. Once I return from my vacation, I will finalise the script and we will move on from there.”
The show follows the shenanigans of the Sarabhai family, an upper middle class family living in South Bombay, took the comedy scene on television by storm in 2005 and acquired a cult following. In the final episode, the main characters had announced that they’d be back in another season, but in 2012, director Deven Bhojani denied this. A decade later there’s hope for Sarabhai fans again.
The family consists of Indravadan Sarabhai (Satish Shah) and his wife Maya (Ratna Pathak), who live in an apartment with their younger son Rosesh (Rajesh Kumar). Their older son Sahil (Sumeet Raghavan) and his wife Monisha Sarabhai(Rupali Ganguly) live in the apartment across the hallway. The show had a successful run with 69 episodes.
