Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who received the Best Direction Award for ‘Bajirao Mastani’ at the 63rd National Awards. The 63rd National Film Awards Ceremony which took place at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on Thusday. Manoj Kumar, Kabir Khan, Monali Thakur, Remo D’Souza, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Kalki Koechlin and a few other celebrities were also among those who bagged the award. Bollywood’s top celebrities being congratulated by the President Pranab Mukherjee.
Amitabh Bachchan and Kangana Ranaut were awarded for the Best Actor category for films, ‘Piku’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ respectively. Both not only emerged as huge winners but their receiving the award from the President but their friendship during the event was too adorable to ignore. The Bachchan family including Aishwarya, Abhishek and Jaya also attended the ceremony and were in all smiles while Amitabh was being honored. On the other hand Kangana’s family too attended the grand event and later got a perfect family picture clicked with the Kangana.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, “The National Award is the jewel in the crown. I was trying to make the film for 12 years. I felt this time, Bajirao and Mastani’s souls blessed the film, and that’s why the movie happened. I guess their blessings came to us, which is why the right casting happened, budget came on, the infrastructure was in place and I shot the most difficult scenes, effortlessly.”
Kalki Koechlin was conferred with Special Jury Award for her performance in Margarita, With A Straw, and veteran actor Manoj Kumar was being awarded with 47th Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 63rd National Films Awards. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has earlier won National award for his films like Devdas and Black.
