Indian ace badminton player Saina Nehwal has settled for a bronze medal after losing in the World Badminton Championship against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara. Saina had played really well and managed to reach the women’s single semi-finals.

Despite all her efforts, Okuhara managed to steal the show with her amazing performance. The championship is taking place in Scotland. The world no. 12, Okuhara made a come back after the first set. The match went on for an hour and 14 minutes. The scorecard of the match was 12-21, 21-17, 21-10. Saina is the first Indian shuttler to reach the finals of world championship.

Okuhara managed to engage Saina into long rallies and made points.  Saina somewhere appeared more tired and hence was struggling during the match. It might be due to the past injuries, but Saina has made India proud once again. Saina was calm as always, and was being guided by her coach Prakash Padukone.

The Olympic Silver medalist PV Sindhu is still in the league and will compete tonight. She will be playing against Chinese Chen Yufei in the semi finals.  This wasn’t the first time that Saina and Okuhara were playing against each other in International Badminton. Saina has won 6 out of those matches.

Okuhara played much better than her performance last year in the Rio Olympics and fast-paced rallies were her strength for the day. Our player made a good attempt and deserves all the love and appreciation.

Kudos Saina!
