India is hosting the 2016 edition of the World T20 which has started from March 8 and will continue until April 3. The inaugural champions will fancy their chances of lifting the trophy and they certainly have the requirements to do so. Here are 6 reasons why India could win the title of ‘T20 Kings’ in 2016:
1. Because We’re Playing At Home
Team India will be enjoying a huge advantage by the presence of home support. It was the same Team India under the leadership of MS Dhoni, that had won the 2011 World Cup. This further increases the team’s chances of winning the World Cup. Not to forget Team India was the runner up in previous T20 World Cup and this fact makes team India favorites. Turning pitches, start of summer, batsman friendly tracks and relatively shorter boundaries all play to the advantage of Team India. With the home crowd egging them on, they will be fired up to do their best on the field.
2. Because We Have The World’s Best Batman ‘Virat Kohli’
Kohli is the man who delivers under pressure. Kohli’s partnership that helped India score three back-to-back wins in this ICC World cup helped the team achieve the No 1 rank. Kohli is on a roll and in unstoppable form. Once he comes back in the team after a well deserved break, he will be raring to go on home turf.
3. Because Yuvraj Is Back!
Team India has bolstered by the return of Yuvraj Singh, who is itching to make his mark again on the big stage. Though he is Injured at the moment and is replaced by Pandey. But, His presence also adds emphasis to the likes of MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina who are well-versed in the T20 format. Yuvraj, Raina and Dhoni combined thrive in high-pressure situations and have been known to change games with a single swing of the willow like Bangladesh VS India match that just changed in 1 last ball.
4. Because We Have Bumrah And Pandya
Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya has been top Key players for India in this ICC World T20. While Bumrah surprises the batsmen with his innocuous stretched right-arm fast-bowling action, Pandya is a handy medium-pace option and a hard-hitting lower-order batsman. Both are young, athletic and electric in the field. Add to this, Manish Pandey, who too is an excellent fielder and an enterprising batsmen with a penchant for rising to the big occasion.
5. Because We Want To Win For MS Dhoni
Indian Cricket team sees a leader in MS Dhoni who is known to lead by example. Dhoni is reputed to keep calm when there is chaos around him and is just the man to keep things in check for the Men in Blue when and if things get out of hand. Plus, Dhoni, in all likelihood is playing his last T20 World Cup and it will just be fitting for him to lift the title which he first won in 2007 edition.
6. Because We Own The IPL
The Indian Premier League has given players the proper understanding of the conditions while playing T20. While international players are also no strangers to the league, Indians certainly hold the edge in this case as they have more experience in the IPL than outsiders.
