The Gujarat Forest Department ordered an inquiry after photos of Ravindra Jadeja and his wife Riva having got down from his vehicle in Gir forest and posing along with lions went viral on social media. Forest officials had recently advised tourists and locals against taking selfies with lions to discourage them from getting dangerously close to the wild animal and putting their lives at risk.
Ravindra Jadeja was on a two-day trip to Gir Forests with his wife Reeva Solanki. The couple had fun time in the wildlife and Jadeja was quick to post his vacation pictures. However, this did not go down very well with the authorities of the protected wildlife area as in some pictures the Ravindra Jadeja can be seen near the lions, which could have been dangerous for both the man and lions.
Chief conservator of Gujarat forests Department AP Singh said, “We have got photographs that show that he got down from his jeep and took photographs, The Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) J A Khan and PCCF Dinesh Mishra have taken note of this incident and have been asked to inquire into it. I have asked the Deputy Conservator of Forest (Headquarters) Ram Ratan Nala to conduct a probe and send a report.”
