Rajinikanth received the Padma Vibhushan award and Priyanka Chopra received the Padma Shri award in a ceremony in New Delhi on Tuesday. Priyanka has been conferred with India’s fourth highest civilian honor. Clad in a lime green saree, Priyanka received the Padma Shri award from President Pranab Mukherjee at a glittering function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Rajinikanth, dressed in traditional attire, received the Padma Vibhushan from President Pranab Mukherjee.
Priyanka has been a part of Hindi cinema for almost a decade and has made India proud globally with her stint in the American TV series ‘Quantico’. Priyanka, who is currently riding high on the success of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Bajirao Mastani’. The Padma Awards were handed out in two separate ceremonies. Actors Ajay Devgn and Anupam Kher and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar received their Padma Awards from President Pranab Mukherjee on March 28. Filmmaker Nila Madhab Panda, known for films like ‘I Am Kalam’ and ‘Kaun Kitne Paani Mein’ also received the Padma Shri.
