Indian hockey team long time captain Sardar Singh was on replaced by Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh as the captain of the Indian men’s hockey squad for the upcoming 2016 Rio Olympics. On Tuesday, the men’s and women’s hockey 16-member squads for Rio Olympic were announced by Hockey India president Narinder Batra in New Delhi.


PR Sreejesh, one of the finest goalkeeper in world hockey at the moment, was rewarded after the team, under his leadership, ended up with a silver medal at the blue riband six-nation Champions Trophy hockey tournament in London.Playmaker SV Sunil, who is also a key component in the team, has been named vice-captain.
