A police complaint was filed against singer Vishal Dadlani for his controversial tweet on Jain monk Tarun Sagar addressing the Haryana Assembly. The complaint was made by a member of an organisation named Jain Life at the Shahadra police station in Delhi. The Haryana government had invited the Jain monk, who appeared in nude, to deliver a lecture ‘Kadve Vachan’ in the Assembly on Friday.
Jain guru Tarun Sagar is a saint of Digambar sect of Jainism, who don’t wear clothes as a part of their religious practice. However, that made Jain members angry and they have filed a police complaint against Vishal Dadlani. He deleted the tweet and tendered an apology, saying he “made a mistake by offending the peaceful Jain community”.
Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party Chief, Arvind Kejriwal also joined the conversation and praised the Jain monk’s preaching, claiming his family has a huge respect for the guru. Vishal Dadlani is associated with Kejriwal’s party, following the outrage, Vishal Dadlani announced that he is quitting from all active political work and affiliations.
