Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch Smart City Projects in Pune today. A total of 83 projects will be launched under the Smart Cities Mission across the country Saturday. PM Narendra Modi will launch 14 of these projects in Pune, along with 69 for other cities, which will come up with a total investment of about Rs. 1,770 crore. marking the first anniversary of the launch of the mission. The Smart City project comes under an ambitious programme of the NDA government the ‘Smart Cities Mission’.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Pune today to launch smart city projects.
The projects include 444 smart classrooms with CCTV cameras and LED TV and and WiFi in NDMC area in Delhi, rooftop solar power plants in Udaipur, Jaipur and Kakinada. Starting the plan in Pune, Modi will launch 14 projects for the city including street and pedestrian walkway, vehicle health monitoring, maximum solar city, tracking garbage vehicles and passenger information system through apps and website.
Today’s launch will also mark the beginning of the implementation of the urban development plans including AMRUT Mission. Urbanisation should be viewed as an opportunity and urban centres should be viewed as growth engines, he said launching the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Smart Cities Mission, and Housing for All (Urban) here.

Smart Net Portal were also inaugurated by PM Modi. The portal enables the cities under different urban missions to share ideas and source solutions for various issues during the implementation of the missions. Smart Cities Mission, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) were launched by PM Modi on June 25 last year.
