Businesswoman Parmeshwar Godrej, wife of industrialist Adi Godrej was having treatment for degenerative lung disease, in Breach Candy Hospital but, she couldn’t make it and passed away on Monday night in the Hospital. Parmeshwar Godrej was 70 years old and from last five years she was suffering from this disease.
Parmeshwar Godrej was a popular socialite and a philanthropist. Parmeshwar was also referred as a ‘style icon’ and she even was connected with entertainment and business world from a long time. Parmeshwar was noted for her work to spread awareness regarding AIDS; she launched the Heroes project together with Hollywood actor Richard Gere to mobilise social leaders and also the media industry to fight HIV-AIDS in India, as per the reportes in Gates Foundation’s web site that also supported the project. Parmeshwar was married in 1965 and have three children Nisa Godrej, Tanya Dubash and Pirojsha.
She was working with Air-India as one of the first air-hostesses when she married Adi Godrej. Parmeshwar had also designed costumes and look for actor Hema Malini in her film Dharmatma on the request of her good friend Feroz Khan. That’s not it She had teamed up with acclaimed director Shekhar Kapur to launch a production house called ‘Starlight’ in 2000. She was known as one of India’s premier socialites and power brokers and she worked extensively in the mission to fight with AIDS in India.
Pakistani Politician and Cricketer Imran Khan, friends of Parmeshwar tweeted first about the death of her close friend on the micro blogging site.
Many Peoples like Milind Deora also tweeted and expressed grief.
