On Tuesday, Pune had a deadly revelation, where the Pune police found over 70 deadly cobras in a flat in Chakan. Over 40000 feet above sea level finding a knot of snakes like a bunch was shocking. All the 70 venomous snakes were tied in a knot and keep in gunny bags and sacks. The police started investigating on the whole issues immediately after getting the deadly case.
Ranjit Kharage, 37-year-old who was living with his wife and children. His house had boxes where 31 cobras and 41 Russell’s Vipers were living with them got rescued. Dhananjay Belkute, 30, who was Ranjit’s alleged accomplice was arrested for allegedly extracting and selling venom by the police. On Monday, the seizure was made from Mr. Kharage’s rented apartment where he used to live with his family.
One of the rooms in the flat had 41 Russell’s vipers and 31 cobras revealed police after the investigation took place. They have accepted that the duo allegedly extracted venom from these reptiles and used to sell or smuggle it in front of Police.

Under sections of Wildlife Protection Act, a case has been registered against the duo for smuggling of snakes. While the news came on Sunday night the police could not investigate at night but early morning on Monday all the cobras were rescued. The duo has been punished and the nearby areas are still under investigation by the Police in Chakan.
