Akshay Kumar was recently detained at the ‘London Heathrow airport’ on Wednesday afternoon by the immigration authorities for over an hour-and-a-half. According to a report, Akshay who arrived in London for the shoot of his upcoming film ‘Rustom‘, was made to wait for over an hour-and-a-half at the airport and had to sit in the general holding area where detained passengers are made to wait.

The airport officials informed Akshay that according to the rules a Canadian national can visit the UK as a tourist, without a visa. However, when asked about the purpose of this visit, Akshay disclosed that it was for a film shoot, which made a visa stamp necessary. And hence he was detained. At one point, he requested to be allowed to sit in a private area. His request was declined by the authorities who told him that there was no such designated area. Akshay however, denied the incident saying he had a valid visa and was out of the airport quickly.

The film is loosely based on the infamous 1951 Nanavati case, which follows the story of K. M. Nanavati who pumped three bullets into his wife’s lover. ‘Rustom’ is release on August 16, 2016 and might clash with Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’. Also Aamir Khan reportedly has shown interest in releasing his film ‘Dangal’ on the same date.
