Government recently announced that users will be able to upload and store their driving license and Vehicle registration paper on DigiLocker, that can be later accessed on a mobile phone or laptop and users will have no need to carry their original documents all the time. You can now get a digital driving license and vehicle registration that you can carry around in your phone in digital cloud storage, DigiLocker. How cool is it!
The DigiLocker app is as a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India project. The service was launched by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Ravi Shankar Prasad in New Delhi. You can now use DigiLocker app at all the places, including ticketing counters, and even if caught by the traffic police.
How to use DigiLocker app in your mobile phone? First you will have to do is to download and install the DigiLocker app on your phone and sign in to it. Signing up requires you to get your mobile number verified using an one time password or OTP. This will create your DigiLocker account. DigiLocker app will provide users with 1GB storage space to store documents.
After signing up you then need to enter your Aadhaar card details into the app to start uploading documents, you can upload your documents by scanning it. You can also use it to store college certificates, property documents and more documents. These virtual copies will be considered valid by the traffic police and other government authorities as these are termed as e-documents issued by the different government agencies.
