7 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans are killed by the Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada today after the ultras detonated a bomb. The blast happened when the CRPF companion was passing through Malewara in Dantewada. An Un-armored vehicle was blown up, resulting in the deaths 7 jawans.

The deceased personnel belonged to the 230 battalion of CRPF,” said Dantewada superintendent of police K Kashyap. Police officers, however, fear that the toll may rise as more details are awaited. Assistant commandant Neeraj Kumar and constable Manish, belonging to CRPF’s 230th battalion, sustained injuries in the explosion. Reinforcement was rushed to the spot and efforts were on to airlift the injured personnel to Raipur for treatment.

Bijapur additional SP Indira Kalyan added, the CRPF men stepped on a Improvised Explosive Device (IED), which triggered the blast. Earlier in the day, two CRPF personnel, including an officer, were injured in a pressure bomb blast triggered by Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Bijapur district.

The blast created a six-feet cater on the road. The jawans were in civil uniform and were returning to duty. They did not carry any weapon.
