A man jumped into the raging waters of the Ganga near Haridwar allegedly at the command of his friends who wanted to record the ‘dramatic act’ on their mobile phones. The video of the incident has gone viral in the social media. The body of the man, identified as Ashish Chauhan, a resident of Gandhmirpur in Bhadrabad, Haridwar, is yet to be found, more than 48 hours after he took the deadly dive in Ganga river.
On July 5, Ashish Chauhan and his friends, Ashwini Chauhan and Balraj Kumar made their way through the woods to the canal. His friends consumed liquor after settling down and then decided to go for a swim. Ashish was initially unsure to jump into the river, but was convinced by his friends to take the dive as they wanted to take the video.
When he did not surface for a long time the two friends got worried and tried to locate him. After all efforts to find their friend failed, then his friends reported the matter at the police station. The help of the jal police tried to locate the body, but have been unsuccessful as on Thursday.
The shocking video made by his friends has gone viral on social media:
Ashish Chauhan friends claimed that he was a good swimmer and that he had done similar acts many times in the past.
