Six members of a family committed suicide by consuming a poison at their house in Kathipura locality of Anjangaon Surji town of the district on late Monday night. Police sais a bottle of a poisonous substance was recovered from the spot. No suicide note was found.

Prafulla Narayan Chavan (50), Vivek Narayan Chavan (35), Mangala Narayan Chavan (40), Laxmi Narayan Chavan (38), all siblings and their nieces Reshmi Arun Barad (18) and Kalini Arun Barad (20), took the extreme step at their house.

Six members of a family committed suicide in Anjangaon by consuming poison at their house. The reason for the step remains unclear.

When the shop didn’t open for long, the neighbors informed about it to Usha Barad, eldest of the Chavan siblings, who stays in Anjangaon Surji. She reached the house and knocked the door but no one responded. When the neighbors looked inside the house, they found bodies of all the six persons.

Anjangaon Surji Police reached the spot . They found two bottles of poison near the bodies. Police later sent the bodies to rural hospital at Anjangaon Surji for post mortem. People had gathered in large numbers at the hospital. Special police squad was summoned to control the crowd.

The reason behind the suicide couldn’t be confirmed. Anjangaon Surji Police have registered the case. Sudhir Patil, PI and his team members are investigating further. A bottle of a poisonous substance was recovered from the spot. No suicide note was found.
