Kareena Kapoor turned showstopper for designer Rohit Bal at the grand finale of Lakme Fashion Week. Rohit Bal along with his muse Kareena Kapoor Khan gave an astonishing closure to the Lakme Fashion Week 2016, with his line stunningly portraying the essence of life and existence.
Kareena looks royal in a royal blue ethnic lehenga with gold and red embroidery. The dress had the ‘chand’ or moon motif all over that added to the beauty and elegance. It was from Bal’s collection titled Koroshini, which means illuminate. At the press conference, Kareena said, “I loved the chand motif on the lehenga. It is something special.”
The historic building of St Xavier’s College, Mumbai was served as a dramatic backdrop for fashion designer Rohit Bal’s grand finale showcase for the spring-summer 2016 edition of Lakme Fashion Week.
When asked about the idea behind the backdrop, Bal said: “The credit for that goes to Lakme. Purnima Lamba, head of innovations at Lakme, wanted the show to have such lighting and I think this is the first time anybody created something like this. The backdrop was lit really well and blended beautifully with the show.”
He added: “I think the only aspiration as a designer, an actor or an entrepreneur is that we always want to do something new and set a standard for others to follow, for others to aspire and be something.”
Poornima Lamba, Head of Innovation, Lakme praised the designer and the showstopper ‘Illuminate’ came alive in the most beautiful form.
“Rohit is pure genius. From the venue to his clothes to the backdrop everything was hauntingly beautiful and when Kareena came out it took my breath away,” she said.
The only thing the otherwise perfect finale was missing on were the Bollywood celebrities in the front row.
