At the 63rd National Film Awards, Amitabh Bachchan won the best actor award for ‘Piku’, Kangana Ranaut was announced the best actress for her double role in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’. SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali: The Beginning‘ has won Best Feature Film and Best Special Effects award. Sanjay Leela Bhansali won the best director award ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
Piku’s director Shoojit Sircar is happy that Amitabh Bachchan has won the National Award for Best Actor at the 63rd National awards. When asked about the winners for Best Actress – Kangana Ranaut and Best Film – Baahubali, Shoojit replied that all those who had won the 63rd National Awards were truly deserving of it.
Director Shoojit Sircar said “I am a part of this. When anyone who wins from a film, the director and writer become part of the win.”
Kalki Koechlin won a Special Jury Award for her performance in Margarita, With A Straw. Remo D’Souza won Best Choreography for Bajirao Mastani. Piku‘s Juhi Chaturvedi and T’anu Weds Manu Returns‘ Himanshu Sharma shared the award for Best Screenplay and Dialogue. Vishal Bhardwaj won Best Adapted Screenplay for ‘Talvar’.
Kangana, also won the Best Actress National Award last year for ‘Queen’ and the Best Supporting Award for Fashion in 2009. Amitabh Bachchan is getting his fourth National Award after ‘Agneepath’, ‘Black’ and ‘Paa’. The National Film Awards have been administered by the Indian government’s Directorate of Film Festivals, along with the International Film Festival of India.
