Jaya Bachchan recently made a concerned speech in Rajya Sabha protesting the attack on migrant workers in the country.
Jaya Bachchan Said:
“There will be another partition in this country, and this time not by foreigners but by our own people. This will be a divide based on religion, caste and language”
Jaya Bachchan was criticizing the call given by MNS to attack non-Marathi speaking auto drivers in Mumbai, though without naming the party.
Jaya Bachchan added:
“People from Hindi heartland go looking for jobs to other states and there they do not get jobs because they don’t speak the language of the state, which is so sad. They are intimidated”
She also reminded that after Independence, the country had been divided into smaller units most recently with Telangana separating from Andhra Pradesh. Jaya Bachchan speech marked by strong words faced interruption from fellow members and from presiding officer P J Kurien under time pressure.
Recently The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader said three-wheelers with new permits will be set on fire because he alleged that nearly 70 per cent of the auto-rickshaws recently cleared to run on Mumbai’s roads belong to non-Maharashtrians. Later, facing waves of outrage, the party said that the diktat was “on hold”.
