AIB member, Tanmay Bhat, has stirred up a controversy and Bollywood is not too pleased this time. Bollywood stars have come forward to slam Tanmay Bhat‘s video which made fun of batting India great batsman Sachin Tendulkar and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. In a new video posted on his official Facebook page, Tanmay is seen roasting the revered Bharat Ratna awardees all in the name of humour. Titled Sachin v/s Lata Civil War, some of the punchlines used against Lata in the video include Jon Snow also died, so should you, Your face looks like someone has kept you in water for eight days.
The clip begins with Tanmay imitating Sachin Tendulkar and asking fans if they think Virat was a better batsman than him. Playing the role of Lata Mangeshkar, Tanmay immediately responds by saying that Virat is indeed a better batsman than Sachin.
Bollywood celebrities like Anupam Kher and Riteish Deshmukh used strong words to slam a video shared by Tanmay Bhat, a member of comedy group AIB, on his Facebook page on May 26. The video features an imaginary conversation between cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar over the subject – who is a better player, Sachin or Virat Kohli.

Am absolutely shocked. Disrespect is not cool and neither is it funny. https://t.co/ymYPi9hxuv

AIB’s Tanmay Bhat brings this one to you with the usual insults, brilliant acting and dialogues that will stick in your head for quite some time to come. What makes it even more epic is that he’s done it using Snapchat’s face swapping feature. Tanmay might have tried to ward negative comments with the caption accompanying the Facebook post, where he wrote: Sachin vs Lata Civil War (I make such nonsense on my Snapchat – follow me there – ID: Thetanmay) (Also I obvously love Lata and Sachin, just having some fun).
AIB, which also comprises of Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya, were in the midst of a controversy last year, following an expletive-loaded Roast that took digs at actors Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt to name a few. It was attended by an audience of 4,000 in Mumbai in December, 2014.
While many have commented that the video is best ignored, the outrage seemed set to take a political turn with Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) threatening to launch protests and file an FIR or police complaint against Tanmay Bhat.
