Bollywood’s megastar and also known as the King-Khan, Shah Rukh Khan has always been known for his incredible acting and brilliant contents (Sadly, Not-Lately). His movies like Dilwale Dulhaniya le Jayenge, Kabhi khushi Kabhi gham, Kuch Kuch hota hai, Mohabbatein and many more are huge box office grosser and at the same time are critically acclaimed as well. But, there were situations when things didn’t really went well for the Baadshah of Bollywood. Despite, the movie being fantastic, either it wasn’t able to please to the Indian audience or it landed into some sort of trouble at the time of it’s release. Here are 5 movies of Shah Rukh Khan that deserved to do better on the box-office.
Released in 2004, Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Swades is still considered among the best movies of Shah Rukh Khan. Despite it being a straight flop at the box office after SRK had the tag of movies like DDLJ, K3G and many other, this was disappointing for the B-Town. The lead role for this movie was first offered to Hrithik Roshan. Despite it being a flop, Hrithik has often said that he missed a golden opportunity by missing out on the role.
Ashoka the Great:
Released in 2001, this Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer was a period movie for an entirely non-mature audience at that time. This movie was heavily praised for its visuals and amazing performances. But the Box-Office was a sheer disappointment.
SRK’s recent release Fan had an incredible acting performance and is counted along with his performances in Darr and My Name is Khan. This was more of an Independent movie than a commercial movie. SRK completely nailed his role but the box-office went opposite to the amount of Hard-work put in by SRK. FAN has declared flop at the Domestic Box Office and SRK himself admitted that he was incredibly sad when FAN didn’t work.
This was a unique story where SRK was playing the character of a poor Muslim boy Sahir Khan who ended up being a Bollywood superstar because of his friend Billu. Though SRK had more of a supporting role in the movie, he had an impressive amount of Screen Timing, and this movie is considered among SRK’s flop. At times, SRK himself admitted that he knew before the release that Billu could have never worked at the Box-Office.
My Name is Khan:
Shocked? You should be. Though, My name is Khan was a HIT at the Indian Box Office, do you really think it deserved only that much? The movie earned 71Cr. at the DBO provided that SRK’s previous big release Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi made 86.75 at the DBO. This movie landed into a lot of troubles due to Hindu-Muslim issues and SRK’s unintentional controversial statements before the release. No wonder, this was at least a 150Cr. Material at that time.
