Half Bullet Train: India’s fastest train to run “Nizamuddin to Agra”

After two years long wait, India’s fastest train, Semi Bullet Gatimaan Express is set to begin its inaugural run on 5th April. But instead of New Delhi, it will depart from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Agra. Which will cover 184 KM distance in 100 Minutes. The original idea to run the train from New Delhi station and make it reach Agra in 90 minutes or even in 105 or 110 minutes has been abandoned.

The train looks like a Shatabdi Express but with better services. There are two executive chair car and eight AC chair car coaches. The executive coaches have two seats on either side with more space between rows whereas chair car has three seats on one side and two on the other with slightly less space between rows. Passengers will also get a wide variety of food options to choose from  continental, Indian, Italian, Indian and others. The train will have “Rail Hosts and Hostesses” dressed in a blue uniform, specially designed for them. With its timing not proving to be much to boast about, Railways has decided to present exceptional on-board services as Gatimaan’s USP. The cost of the train in around Rs 50 crore 10 coaches with each costing Rs 2.5 to 3 crore and two power cars. The fare will be Rs 1,365 for Executive Class and Rs 690 for Chair Car.

Railway Minister Prabhu will not be at the station to flag off the train. Instead he will flag off the train with remote control from Rail Bhawan at 10 am. The Gatimaan Express train no 12049/50 will clock a speed of 160 km per hour speed in the Tughlakabad-Agra section. The train will have 12 coaches of Executive Class as well as chair cars. The train’s fares will be higher than that of a Shatabdi Express.
