Former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Kalikho Pul was found dead on Tuesday at his residence in Itanagar. Kalikho Pul allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his bedroom, a top police officer said. He was found dead at the chief minister’s official residence which he was yet to vacate.
“The body was found hanging around 9 am by a servant. He may have committed suicide on Monday night itself,” DGP Arunachal Pradesh S Nithianandam told Hindustan Times.
Kalikho Pul was found by one of his three wives. He is survived by four children. MHA sources confirmed that no suicide note has been found and the reason of suicide could be depression and was upset after his appointment as chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh was struck down by the Supreme Court.
Kalikho Pul became the chief minister of the state in February 2016 with support of BJP. He along with his supporters joined Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA), a regional political party of Arunachal Pradesh. Kalikho Pul was general secretary of his college union for all the three years he was there. He won on a Congress ticket in 1995 and went on to become a minister.
