Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali who is famous for his iconic films was assaulted by the Rajput community in Jaipur. The community had also forced to stop the shooting of the movie Padmavati by vandalizing the sets of the movie at the Jaigarh Fort. The community slapped the filmmaker and also tore off his clothes. The protestors said that there were distorting facts and also they were showing Padmavati in the bad light.
The district president Narayan Divrala of Karni Sena said that they had learned from the film as the film was portraying the love story between Alauddin Khilji and Padmini which is distorting the history. He further said they had told the team that they won’t let them shoot until the make the changes.
Large numbers of people who were with the Rajput community reached the Jaigarh fort and on Friday and disrupted the shooting. The few intimate scenes in the film were not acceptable by the community and they reached the sets and started arguing about the same. Some member of the shooting party started to fire in the air and this increased tension among the people around there.
Kalvi said that the filmmaker has assured that there will be no intimate scenes in the movie anymore. The community said they will not tolerate the distortion of the film and it will be assured after they see the movie Kalvi added that there will be further protest if historical facts and outfit are distorted in the film.
The incident has attracted several from the film fraternity which seems shocked and angry after what happened.
