Five students were killed and one was injured when their car overturned on Pune-Mumbai Expressway on 26 July (Tuesday). The six students were heading to Pune from Mumbai when their Maruti car rammed into another vehicle near Pavana police chowky at Kamshet.
The car was flipped on its top, killing four of them instantly. Two others died at the Lokmanya hospital at Nigdi while undergoing treatment, According to report Hindustan Times.
Out of the six students, police have identified three based on their college identity cards recovered. They are Aditya Bhandarkar, Yash Shirali and Abhishek, all residents of Pune. police are still trying determine the identity of the other two individuals who lost their lives and the injured passenger.
According to Kamshet police, “The deceased students were in the age group of 21-23. They were travelling in a black-coloured Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Based on eyewitnesses’ statements, it seems the youths were driving the car rashly and overtaking in the wrong lane. report Mid-Day.
