Today a blast took place in Naya Bazar area near Chandni Chowk in north Delhi at around 10:30 am. Delhi’s anti-terror wing and Special cell have reached at the site of explosion. The crime and forensic teams have also reached the site of the blast in Naya Bazar to pick up the sample and prepare a report.
Virendra Chahal who is a Joint CP of Northern Range told reporters that it looks like a firecracker explosion in a jute bag. Though, the reason of the Explosion is yet to be discover as doubts remain if the explosion was caused by firecrackers or a gas cylinder. Explosive materials used for making firecrackers have been found at the explosion site in the area. Windows of the surrounding buildings were damaged due to the impact of the blast and the area has been isolated by the Delhi Police.
Meanwhile, Home Minister of delhi Rajnath Singh, who is in Bahrain, called Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Verma to take stock of the situation in Naya Bazar area of the national capital and inquired about the death of a person in the explosion.Commissioner Verma briefed him about the incident and the steps taken in this regard, as per the source.The Home Minister Rajnath instructed the Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Verma to arrest those who are involved in the incident and take all possible measures to ensure peace and public safety in the city.
One Killed In Explosion In Delhi’s Naya Bazar Area
According to the CCTV footage of the incident a man carrying a bundle of explosive material and walking through a narrow street in Naya Bazar is shown. The man is later seen placing the bundle down and thereby setting off the explosion. Smoke covers the street of Naya Bazar and people can be seen scurrying to safety. Delhi Police personnel have been maintaining a tight vigil in view of the festive season.
