Emraan Hashmi upcoming film Azhar has been in news ever since it was announced. The makers of Azhar have finally revealed the first motion poster of the film. Emraan took to twitter to share it with fans and followers. In the motion poster, Emraan Hashmi is dressed in blue jersey and resembles Mohammad Azharuddin. The film revolves around Azharuddin, who led the Indian cricket team for most of the 1990s. He was implicated in a match fixing scandal in 2000, and banned for life. But later in 2012, the Andhra Pradesh High Court lifted the ban. On November 27, 2000, Azharuddin was found guilty of match fixing, while Ajay Jadeja, Manoj Prabhakar and Ajay Sharma were found guilty of having links with bookies.
In an interview to Hindustan Times, Emraan Hashmi said, When my friends and family saw this picture, they were shocked. This will shock a lot of people as the story is controversial. Right from the beginning, people have been following Azhar’s life from the 80s and 90s, when he was on the top of his game to the match-fixing controversy that shook the nation.
In the motion poster, one can see him sitting on a bench, with a bag of money at his feet, a metaphor for the match-fixing scandal. Emraan has been lauded for adopting the gait and body language of the cricketer turned Politician.
The team also unveiled the first look of other actors, Prachi Desai and Nargis Fakhri.
