The upcoming film Veerappan, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, which is based on the life of the infamous sandalwood smuggler, narrates his story through the point of view of those who were involved in his encounter. RGV gathered his research material based on interviews with some of the dacoit’s ex-gang members, people who used to mediate between him and the government, and from people who were a part of the operation to nab him says that Veerappan tried to kidnap megastar Rajinikanth just like he did with Kannada superstar Rajkumar. Yes! The film will also have a part where Veerappan plans a plot to kidnap the Thalaiva.
The director, in a tweet, said that Veerappan thought himself to be more popular than Rajinikanth, and once demanded the government to make a film based on his life.

The film, titled Veerappan: None Like Him Ever Existed, will pan through the various stages of his life. The film will also tell the story of the police operation- Operation Cocoon -that killed the most-wanted bandit. Starring Sandeep Bharadwaj, Sachiin J Joshi, Usha Jadhav, and Lisa Ray, Veerappan will hit the screens on May 27.
