Johan Abraham and Varun Dhawan-starrer Dishoom has been banned in Pakistan and Varun is upset with this decision. Dishoom, which also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Akshay Khanna and Nargis Fakhri was released in India and worldwide on Friday (July 29). But as feared earlier, the film has been banned in Pakistan.
Varun Dhawan took to Twitter and wrote, “Really upset that #Dishoom is banned in pakistan. I don’t think the film eventually shows any country in a bad light. It’s a wrong decision (sic).”

Varun Dhawan clarified that Dishoom has nothing against Pakistan but as per the country’s censor board, the film has shown Pakistan in a bad light.
Varun Dhawan told India Today, “I would like to clear this. There is no negative reference against Pakistan or any community. It is a very positive representation. In fact, what we are trying to show is that for certain people money is their religion. It’s not being an Indian, Pakistani, Hindu, Muslim or Christian. In the capitalistic world that we live in, money is the biggest driving force for most crimes.”
The film’s premise is set around an India vs Pakistan cricket match. And this is reportedly one of the reasons that it didn’t go down well with the Pakistani Censor Board.
