Dangal Becomes the Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie Ever

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Aamir Khan starring Dangal has had an exceptional run both in People’s heart and at the Box-Office. It’s been 17 days since the movie released and it’s still getting handsome figures both domestically and internationally at the Box-Office. On its 17th day of the run, Dangal became the highest domestic grossing movie in the history of Bollywood. The previous best also belonged to Aamir Khan. His movie PK collected 340.8 Cr. On Sunday, Dangal collected a whooping 14.33Cr. and made it’s 17 days total equal to 345.30Cr. Thus, surpassing the previous record.

Here are some of the tweets from famous movie critic and trade expert, Taran Adarsh:

Apart from This, Aamir Khan also holds the record for being the first one to get his film in any of the handsome Box Office clubs:

  • Ghajini was the 1st film to cross ₹ 100 cr
  • 3 Idiots was 1st film to cross ₹ 200 cr
  • PK was the 1st film to cross ₹ 300 cr
  • And now, Dangal would be the 1st film to cross ₹ 350 cr

Aamir’s next movie is Thugs of Hindostan where he’ll be starring alongside his idol and legend Amitabh Bachchan. One shouldn’t be surprised if that movie goes on to make and break records. Not only in the domestic box office, but Dangal is also rocking worldwide. Till 8th January 2017, Dangal collected an Amazing total of 180.58Cr. in the international market.

Dangal Becomes the Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie Ever 1

In the top 5 Bollywood grosser of all time, Aamir has 3 of his movies with Dangal at 1st, PK at 2nd and Dhoom:3 at 5th spot. Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan holds the 3rd spot and Sultan holds the 4th spot.

Since the movie is still going very strong and there is no big movie up to 13th of January when OK Jaanu would be releasing, Dangal is expected to do 375Cr. lifetime business. Well, Dangal is surely setting a benchmark and it’s not going to be easy for any movie to achieve this. But never say never, provided that there are some amazing and potential movies like Raees, Rahnuma (allegedly called), Tubelight, Thugs of Hindostan, Krrish 4 and Robot 2.0 lined up.
