Recently, Vin Diesel uploaded short video clips of ‘Fast 8‘ for fans on Instagram. Director F. Gary Gray, also uploaded short video clips updating the series dedicated to fans on what is happening behind the scenes.
Vin Diesel teases that this sequence will feature action which fans have never seen before. “That’s how we do things on ‘Fast and Furious’,” second unit director Spiro Razatos says, “We do things practical. As long as we do things safe, that’s the bottom line.”
In this Fast Fridays video, seven cars are seen plummeting from a parking garage and onto a moving motorcade. According to second unit stunt coordinator Andy Gill, there will be between 35 to 40 cars involved in this massive pileup. The crew has been calling this the “zombie car” sequence.
Second Unit Stunt Coordinator Jack Gill added that there are as many as 35 to 40 cars involved for the pileup in the stunt. ‘Fast 8′ star Vin Diesel even called the action “unlike anything you’ve ever seen.” Well, we wouldn’t go that far, but destroying a total of 40 cars in one scene alone is certainly next level shit.
The “This Week In #F8” video gives us a look at all the prep work that goes into successfully composing the shot and also reveals that a lime green Lamborghini Murcielago and a bright red Fiat 500 Turbo at the top of the parking complex. However, it’s interesting to note that the final action scene that features all the cars falling from the sky do not include the Lambo.
The Fast 8 cast is confirmed to include franchise regulars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel and Lucas Black reprising their roles as international criminals-turned-super-secret agents. Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson and Kurt Russell are confirmed to return as well. Charlize Theron is confirmed to play the villain, with Kristofer Hivju as one of her henchmen.
