A speedy Mercedes driven by a 55-year-old doctor rammed into at least six vehicles over a stretch of 2 kms In Bengaluru. A two-wheeler rider was killed and four people were injured in the accident. Other injured are identified as Mahzid Khan 20, Mohsina Begum 45 and Anjum Khan 30, who were riding on separate two wheelers. All the three are undergoing treatment at a hospital and are recovering. The Mercedes hit multiple vehicles over a one kilometre stretch and finally rammed into a house.

Dr. Shankar allegedly driving in the middle of the road, hit two cars and another two-wheeler and finally rammed 52-year old tailor Rizwan Ahmed Khan, who was waiting on his two-wheeler with his wife at Bhyrasandra Circle. 45-year old wife Mohsina Begum suffered multiple fractures after the car knocked down their two-wheeler.

According to the police: “Doctor Shankar, the accused driver, was speeding at over 100 kmph”

Mercedes came to a halt after hiting into a tile-roofed house on Byrasandra Main Road. All residents of the house were away at the time of the accident. The sedan is an auto-gear vehicle.

Dr Shankar, Saritha and her son also sustained minor injuries in the incident and were saved from major injuries as the air bags in the front seats opened automatic

Dr. Shankar, who runs Siddhartha Clinic in Jayanagar IV Block and is a resident of Vidyapeetha, near Banashankari I Stage, rammed a Maruti Swift near Ashoka Pillar, but did not stop the car. Moving towards Madhavan Park, Shankar turned left after the park and hit a two-wheeler and two cars a Zen and an Indica.

Senior police officer said “Dr. Shankar is not in a condition to speak. Once he is fine, we will be able to know where he was going and what made him drive at top speed.”
