Kingpin of the fake Mira-Road call centre racket Sagar Thakkar alias ‘Shaggy’ had purchased an Audi R8 costing 2.5 crore from cricketer Virat Kohli. The car was on hunt by police officers as the police team investigating the multi-crore call center scam earlier revealed that the alleged mastermind had gifted an Audi R8 to his girlfriend as a birthday gift.
Now the news comes up as the Thane police seized the car which costed nearly Rs 3 crore and not only this the Audi R8 was purchased by Shaggy from none other than Virat Kohli, The Indian Express reported.
Police said that Virat Kohli was not aware about Thakkar’s background and was not linked to the scam in any way. However, police found that the Audi R8’s ownership was yet to be changed and it is still in Kohli’s name.
Thane Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh said that Police investigating team were initially searching for the car in Ahmedabad, but after questioning Shaggy’s close ones, the investigators found that the car was in Delhi and right after the information was confirmed the car was seized and brought to Thane.
It is suspected that Thakkar is currently in Dubai with his sister Reema, who is also suspected to be involved in the call centre racket.
