The district magistrate of Buxar (Bihar), Mukesh Pandey committed suicide on Thursday night. Pandey was found dead near the railway tracks of Ghaziabad. He took himself in front of the train and took his life. The officers of government railway police started an initial investigation. Later with the help of his identification cards, he was identified then they informed Ghaziabad district magistrate and the police in Ghaziabad.

The Government Railway Police also got a suicide note with the body. The note was written in English and they gave it to the administrative officers. Mukesh Pandey was from the 2012 batch IAS officer.

The Government said, his head and body were apart. They feel that before the train came to him he laid down on the tracks. The circle officer (GRP), Ghaziabad, Randhir Singh says, The officer Mukesh Pandey was wearing a trouser and sandals and because of the speed of the train, his t-shirt was ripped apart. This accident took place under Ghaziabad jurisdiction.

Ghaziabad district magistrate also reached the spot and said with a suicide note even a notebook was found. Before committing suicide he called up a known person from Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi. Even the hotel card was found at the site. He called to inform a person that he is committing suicide. Then little later he was found dead at the tracks of Ghaziabad. His family was informed and the forensic teams reached the site.

The sources which are not confirmed yet says that the officer had an argument with his in-laws but the team is still confirming the news. The website of Buxar says that Pandey came to the office on 4th August as a district magistrate.

As per the reports on Hindustan Times, the incident took place 200m from the Kotgaon railway. The suicide spot is at the busy Ghaziabad-Howrah railway section which has more number of trains on the way to Aligarh, Kanpur and other places.

However, the entire thing is just a mystery for now.

Buxar deputy development commissioner, Mobin Ali Ansari told HT, on Thursday he got an SMS from the DM at 3:36 am. He was asking Ali to come and take charge. Pandey said he needs to leave for Delhi urgently as his uncle is not well. Ali saw the text at 6:00 am and went to circuit house. The officer left his posting to the district on 4th August at 7:00 am. The caretaker gave him the official phone number and said that Pandey left at 4:00 am for Patna where he needs to catch a morning flight.

According to the sources, Mukesh Pandey was married in 2014 to a business family who has a car showroom in Patna. Yet Pandey was left to shift with his wife and a two-month-old daughter to Buxar.

Pandey finished his matriculation and higher secondary education in Guwahati (Assam). And he was graduated in English from Guwahati’s prestigious Cotton College. In 2012 Union Public Service Examination (UPSC) he got 14th rank.
