Atanu Das enters the pre-quarterfinals of the men’s archery Recurve event at the Rio Olympics on Tuesday. Atanu Das defeated Jit Bahadur Muktan of Nepal 6-0 in the round of 64 encounter and then kept his composure to prevail over Cuban Adrian Andres Puentes Perez 6-4 in a thrilling clash in the next round.
Atanu Das from Kolkata as he is now up next challenge against South Korean archer and a former world No. 5 Lee Seung-Yun in the1/8 eliminations clash. Lee was a part of the victorious South Korean outfit that won gold in the team Recurve event at the ongoing Games. The 1/8 eliminations are scheduled to be held on August 12.

Atanu Das, 24-year-old archer, comes from West Bengal. Atanu is a promising budding talent, who started archery at the age of 14. He moved to Tata Archery Academy in 2008, where he was trained under the coach Lim Chae Wong. Making his first appearance in a mega event at the Rio Olympics.
