Ashish Nehra successfully underwent a knee surgery on Tuesday night in London. Nehra had injured his knee while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. Ashish Nehra, who represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in the IPL, had sustained a high-grade tendon injury and the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) medical team, after assessing his injury, recommended that he consult an orthopaedic specialist in London. Ashish Nehra sustained the injury during the match against Kings XI Punjab on May 15, as he aborted his run-up and was seen in considerable pain.
According to ESPN Cricinfo, “Nehra was advised to consult Dr Andrew Williams, an orthopaedic specialist in London, and the surgery took place on Tuesday night.”
Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to wish his good friend, former national and Delhi teammate Ashish Nehra a speedy recovery. Nehra underwent a successful knee surgery last night at a hospital in London, Nehra seemed alright post surgery in picture tweeted by former Indian batting star batsman VVS Laxman on Twitter showing the thumbs up sign as well. Virender Sehwag who had coined the name ‘Nehra ji’ for Nehra over social media looked in high spirits all day on Twitter constantly urging fans to wish Nehra ji happy and safe recovery.
It is expected that Nehra, if he decides to continue playing, will take around six months for complete recovery as well as rehabilitation programme. Ashish Nehra’s name has been doing the rounds for quite some time as the bowling coach of the senior team as he shares a fantastic rapport with current team players.
Ashish Nehra took nine wickets in eight matches before sustaining the injury in a league match against Kings XI Punjab.
