Following the similar lines of Abhishek Bachchan, who is the owner of the Pro Kabaddi League’s Jaipur Pink Panthers, bollywood star Akshay Kumar has decided to spend his fortunes on acquiring the League’s Bengal Warriors. Akshay, who is currently shooting in Mauritius, is said to have bought the team. Akshay has always loved the sport and wanted to own a team. This season, he has decided to work on his plan. Khiladi Kumar, known to be a sports aficionado, has gone ahead and bought a kabaddi team which is part of the recently established World Kabaddi League.
The papers for the deal have been signed. Interestingly, Bengal Warriors will play the inaugural match against Bengaluru Bulls. The team is captained by Dinesh Kumar and coached by Raj Narain Sharma. Akshay Kumar has not said anything related to this to media till now.
Akshay is known to be passionate about all sports from his childhood days. The actor started training for karate when he was very young. Today Akshay is as kicked about hockey and cricket as he is about martial arts. Undoubtedly, Akshay’s association with kabaddi will lend the desi sports the much needed glamour.
In the past, the Khiladi Kumar had performed at the closing ceremony of the second Kabbadi world cup and launched the third one with a spectacular entrance on a bike. He has made it a point to promote his movies at these sports events, whether it was Khiladi 786 or Desi Boyz.
By investing in the national local sport, the Khiladi has lent glamour to kabbadi.
Akshay is the second hero from Bollywood to invest in the sport after Abhishek Bachchan, who has bought the Jaipur team which is a part of the Pro Kabbadi league founded by industrialist Anand Mahindra and former cricket commentator Charu Sharma.
