Though he has topped in his school now he has decided to reject the world and has now become a Jain monk. According to the report in TOI, Varshil Shah is taking Diksha- a religious ceremony that marks the beginning of Jain Monks and nuns.

Varshil Shah Says, It was Kalyan Ratnavijaysuri Maharaj, my guru, who motivated me on this path. He is 32 years old and had taken diksha himself around my age. When I spent time with him and got to know about his thoughts on contemporary issues and how Jainism is relevant, my resolve to cross over to the life of an ascetic became stronger.

Amiben Shah, his mother, and father Jigarbhai who is an income-tax officer, his parents are so happy for their son. Varshil’s sister has also scored 99.9 percentile in 2011 and was pursuing a career in accountancy.

Varshil and his family have a simple lifestyle and they follow Jainism. They follow the Jain principle of Jivdaya. In his house, the usage of electricity is restricted as they believe that many aquatic animals are killed in the process of power generation. And the surprising thing is that they don’t have a television and a refrigerator at home. Whenever they need electricity only that time they use it. The topper Shah believes that a peaceful mind can get more work done. Before the school began in 2016, Shah met a group of Jain monks and they helped him to concentrate on his studies and scored high marks.
