In Assam, a widow seriously injured herself after she jumped from a running vehicle. She jumped to save herself from a rape attempt.  According to the reports, the woman’s age is near forty, and she is being treated in Assam’s Golaghat town, in a government hospital. The hospital staff said, she is injured on her head and one eye.
On Monday around 8 pm this incident took place. The woman was traveling from her native place Titabore in Jorhat, to Silanijan. It is about 60 km away, in Karbi Anglong. On Tuesday, a relative of this woman told the media, “I had dropped her at the bus stop at Titabor where she boarded a Golaghat-bound bus. In Golaghat, she probably didn’t get a bus to go further to Silanijan and boarded a goods-laden vehicle,”
The Police said the woman said the driver to stop the vehicle at Silanijan. But the driver did not stop the vehicle and kept moving and said they had not reached the place. Women got panicked and jumped off the moving vehicle near the Nambar Reserve Forest, at a bridge. She was lying unconscious by the roadside, the locals found her and informed the police. Later she was taken to the hospital.

The Superintendent of Police, Debojit Deuri, said to media that the vehicle was a goods laden truck. The women were sitting on the back seat while the three persons along with the driver, were sitting on the front seat.
The Deuri said, “She hasn’t told us anything about rape or molestation attempt on her. Perhaps, the trio had such an intention, but nothing happened till the time she had jumped off the vehicle”.
The Police asked if he can identify the vehicle or the three people who were inside the truck, he said, “She hasn’t been able to give us details of the vehicle except that it was white DI. We’re investigating,” he said.
A widow went to her parent’s house on 15 January in Titabor and from there she was returning home on Monday.
