An 8-year-old boy died at cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s Chandigarh house after the gate of his residence fell on him while he was playing with it at Mansa Devi Complex, Sector 4. According to reports, no one was at Yuvraj’s place at the time of the accident as both the cricketer and his mother were at their Gurugram residence. As per initial reports, the house was being renovated and the gate was installed recently. Police is still probing the matter.

The police handed over the body to the victim’s family after post-mortem. According to the police, the victim has been identified as Kuldeep, son of a labourer, whose family resides in the slum area at the back of Power Colony in Sector 4. Construction work is under way at the house and people from the slum area fetch water from the house. Kuldeep, who was accompanying his maternal uncle to fetch water, started playing with the main gate of the house. Since the construction work was under way, the gate was not fixed properly. The child was reportedly dangling on the gate and it fell on him.

Kuldeep parents shifted him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
